Katie joined the Denver7 team as a digital content producer in April of 2023.
She went to school at the University of Missouri (Mizzou), graduating in 2018 with her bachelor's of journalism degree in convergence emerging media. During that time, she worked as a digital content producer and state government reporter at the daily city newspaper in Columbia, Missouri: the Columbia Missourian, a fact checking reporter for Politico, a digital content producer and production assistant at the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri: KOMU Channel 8, and a production assistant at Feature Story News bureau in Brussels, Belgium.
Out of college, she worked as a freelance print reporter for Colorado Community Media and then a production assistant at the NBC affiliate in St. Louis: KSDK Channel 5, specializing in fall 2018 midterm election coverage.
She then went back to Mizzou to get her master's degree, graduating in 2020 with an emphasis in data and investigative reporting, and broadcast journalism. During that time, she worked as a broadcast producer at KOMU, a digital content producer at the Columbia Missourian, an editorial contributor at Investigative Reporters and Editors, and a production assistant at CBS News Face the Nation in Washington, D.C.
She took a job in Memphis, Tennessee after graduation at the NBC affiliate: WMC-TV, where she worked as a broadcast producer for two years. She then made the jump back home to Colorado after eight years away to join Denver7 as a broadcast producer in 2022 before making the transition to the digital team in April of 2023.
When she's not at work, you can find Katie spending time with her friends and family who live in Colorado, taking her dog Sunny for walks around Wash Park, hitting the slopes on her snowboard, and exploring Denver's food scene. While she is a Colorado native, she enjoys getting to know her home state with fresh eyes every day.
