Denver7 Morning Anchor Anusha Roy and Denver7 North Metro Reporter Maggie Bryan were joined by viewer volunteers in Arvada on Saturday, Aug. 22 for the latest Denver7 Gives volunteer event. The team helped build affordable housing with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver.
“The need for Habitat for Humanity is now greater than it has ever been,” Jeanne Fischetti with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver said during the event.
Fischetti pointed to the rising cost of housing in metro Denver, noting that the median price of a single-family home is now well above $600,000, making homeownership difficult for many families.
Habitat for Humanity relies on volunteers to help build homes and expand access to affordable housing. Fischetti expressed appreciation for community members who donate their time and effort at build sites, including the team of Denver7 Gives volunteers who braved the heat on Saturday morning to help build townhomes at Griffith Station.
Attendees said participating in this Denver7 Gives volunteer event provided an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our community.
“I think it's really empowering just knowing that you're being a part of something that's going to be able to give someone stability and comfort for the future,” one volunteer said.
