DENVER – The Fourth of July brought heavy rain and hail to much of the Front Range and eastern plains of Colorado, and another round of severe weather is expected to bring large hail and more heavy rain on Friday.
Storms are expected to form over the mountains and foothills by 2 or 3 p.m. and move northeast across the Front Range, forming a line from Fort Collins down to Castle Rock this afternoon, the National Weather Service said Friday morning.

The storms will be expected along the Front Range between 3 and 8 p.m., and over the eastern plains between 6 p.m. and midnight.
The National Weather Service in Boulder said some storms could produce large hail over 2 inches in diameter, along with heavy rain of up to 3 inches over a two-hour span that could induce flash flooding. The NWS said damaging wind and isolated tornadoes are also possible Friday.
Temperatures will be cooler Friday and over the weekend, with highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s in Denver and 60s and 70s in the mountains.
