DENVER — The last week and a half of summer will be hot and dry across Colorado! Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 80s in Denver and across the eastern plains all of this week. In the mountains, highs will be in the 70s to low 80s. The Western Valleys will be in the 80s to around 90 degrees.
Winds will be gusty at times through the week. Northwestern Colorado has high fire danger through Wednesday, with gusty winds, dry conditions and low relative humidity.
Denver will be close to at least tying some record readings for mid-September. The record for Tuesday is 92 degrees, set in 1951 and the record for Wednesday is 94 degrees, set in 1911. The predicted highs for both days are very close to those marks.
Little change in the overall weather pattern is expected through the upcoming weekend. Hot and dry conditions will prevail statewide. Fire danger will remain high, so be careful out there!
The aspens are turning in the mountains! It is a nice time to get up to the high country and enjoy the annual display of aspen gold, especially in areas along and north of I-70.
