DENVER — A friendly competition is brewing between the Mayors of Denver and Phoenix — winner takes all the beer.
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock put on the line a host of Colorado's own Denver Beer Trail Ale. Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton offered up Wren House Brewing Company's Valley Beer.

The two exchanged a volley of tweets, with Stanton holding up a sign saying "GO D-BACKS," and posing with the Diamondbacks mascot.
Hancock quipped he was looking forward to tasting Stanton's beer.

The duel circles around the National League wildcard matchup between the Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks and the continuance of a playoff run.
For the Rockies, this game means the first playoff appearance — commonly called Rocktober — since 2009.
