Colorado delegate still can't support Trump even after he became the Republican party's nominee

They were called Rabble Rousers and Troublemakers -- Colorado's Republican Delegates who attended the Republican National Convention.

State delegate Guy Short has attended six Republican National Conventions, and while he said 2016 was by far the most exciting, it was unsuccessful in uniting the GOP.

Being booed at the Convention became a badge of honor for Colorado's delegates -- they even made pins as a badge of honor. 

"It says "Colorado 2016 Troublemakers," which is going to be in the Smithsonian Institute," said Short, holding up the button with pride.

Short said Colorado was seated behind all other states... and territories.

"[The] Virgin Islands were in front of us," said Short. "Samoa was in front of us. We were in the back. There wasn't anyone behind us by MSNBC. It doesn't get much worse than that."

Short was one of 31 Colorado delegates to cast his vote for Ted Cruz, as he pledged to do in the state convention, and he wasn't surprised when Cruz did not endorse Donald Trump.

"That was a debacle. There's no doubt about it," said Short.

Another embarrassment for Republicans occurred during the Colorado-led floor fight over a roll call vote.

Short was on the Rules Committee and still believes that Conventions should be deliberative, and not just a T.V. show.

"I think just the heavy handed tactics, the backroom deals [concerned me most]," said Short. "I think unity is a two-way street, and both sides have got to be talking and working together. And this convention, that didn't happen."

It was a tough convention, and Short said ultimately, Trump needs Colorado to win the election.

But Trump has not yet won his vote.

"I'd like to vote for Donald Trump rather than against Hillary Clinton," said Short. "So I'm almost there. I've always supported the nominee, but I'm not there yet."
