DENVER — The day Amtrak 501 derailed in 2017, Timmy Brodigan’s life was forever changed. The teen was on board, headed to visit his cousin, when it derailed, killing three and injuring dozens more.
When his mother, Robyn Brodigan, arrived at the hospital, she was told her 16-year-old son was in surgery and had traumatic injuries to his head and spine. They said he would likely never walk again.
But his family sought out the best spinal injury rehab in the nation, which brought them to Denver. The teen started his rehab immediately.
This is the story of his recovery.
