DENVER — Although the most severe weather threats throughout the upcoming week will likely persist on Tuesday, the Denver metro area could still see severe storms crop up on Monday.

A severe storm cropped up just east of E-470 just before 2:30 p.m., with dozens of reported lightning strikes and heavy rain.

On the Eastern Plains, a Tornado Warning was issued for Much of Morgan County as a set of severe storms swept through the county.

Denver7 First Alert Chief Meteorologist Mike Nelson explained the storm will move at about 20 miles per hour in a southeast direction, with the possibility for more severe weather as the day progresses.

That threat will grow into Tuesday afternoon when a disturbance makes its way over the Rocky Mountains, impacting the foothills and then the Denver metro area.
