COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A lengthy chase in Colorado Springs led police to kill a man who was armed with a gun.
Officers released details a day after the chase, which began at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21 on Illinois Avenue. They said the suspect, who is a man, ran from police when they attempted to arrest him on felony domestic violence charges.
Amid the chase, police say the man ran into a home where he held up the residents with a gun, stealing their car. Police were able to stop that car, leading to a gunfight.
Police say they hit the man, leading medical personnel to rush him to Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office will investigate the shooting.
