ERIE, Colo. — Some town trustees are calling for an investigation after the sudden and unexplained resignations of four top staff members over the past few months.

"The town's been doing well financially,” said trustee Dan Woog. “And with all these people leaving, it does beg the question: Are they concerned with a new direction? Do we have a new direction? Those are questions I don’t know. I'd like them answered. And I’m sure a lot of residents would, as well."

In a statement to Denver7, Erie spokeswoman Katie Hansen said, "As a policy, the Town of Erie does not comment on any personnel matters, which this would fall under."

The next public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m.

In a post on the neighborhood social network Nextdoor, Woog writes - "One of our most exemplary town staff members abruptly resigned. This department director was one of our best commercial economic minds with a promising future… why?!?"

While the town wouldn't confirm names of those who have left, according to online job postings - one of the positions recently vacated is director of planning and development.

The previous director was Todd Bjerkaas. Denver7 tried to contact Bjerkaas multiple times, but he could not be reached for comment.

Woog indicated it’s time to stop the bleeding before more talented staffers leave, too.

"It's concerning that we've lost invaluable wisdom and knowledge that these staff members exhibited," Woog said.
