ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — A man has died after being rescued from the water at Cherry Creek State Park on Friday, Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials said in a release.
CPW officials said the young adult man and a child were paddleboarding south of the swim beach when they fell into the water.
Neither person was wearing a life jacket, according to witness reports to CPW, the release said.
South Metro Fire Rescue, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office responded to the park, the fire department posted online just before 4 p.m. Friday.
Officials said the child made it safely to shore, and CPW officers and the South Metro Fire Rescue Dive Team rescued the man after 45 minutes.
First responders immediately began CPR, and the man was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
No other details are available, and the man's identity and cause of death will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner.
The incident marks the second suspected drowning at a Colorado state park in just two days.
