DENVER — He was only 16, and he will remain 16 forever.

That is how the family of La'zic "Zay" Abraham wants the energetic and loving teenager to be remembered.

"He had so much potential to bring something positive to the world," said Gigi Buentipo, his aunt. "Anybody who met Zay loved him."

Abraham was shot and killed while walking home on Jan. 26th at the 14500 block of East Maxwell Place in Denver's Montbello neighborhood. Investigators still don't know what led to the shooting or who is responsible. Police are still looking for the killer.

"We still have not been able to accept it that this is real," Buentipo explained. "This was so unexpected."

Another unexpected shock is the monetary cost of such an unexpected death. The family setting up a GoFundMe page to help ease the financial strain.

"It is two shocks. One is shock that this is real, and the other is the financial shock," Buentipo said. "Every little bit helps, and we are thankful."

The family is holding a viewing ceremony on Thursday and a funeral on Friday to say farewell to the person they will always remember as a joyful teenager.

"He is looking down and saying it's gonna be okay," Buentipo. "He will be forever 16."
