Drug stores in CO begin stocking opioid overdose-reversal drug

DENVER -- Heroin's grip on drug addicts across the country hasn't eased up, meaning overdoses are increasingly prevalent. Pharmacies across the nation are now stocking drugs to help reverse deadly effects of overdoses. 

CVS is one such drug store making the life-saving drug Narcan -- also known as naloxone -- available to anybody without a prescription. 

All 39 CVS locations in Colorado -- with many being located inside Target stores -- will now stock the life-saving drug to help expand access across the state. 

"We are dedicated to helping the communities we serve address and prevent drug abuse and we are expanding access to naloxone to give more people a chance to get the help they need for recovery," Tom Davis, RPh, vice president of pharmacy professional practices at CVS Pharmacy, said.
