DENVER – Police closed down East Andrews Drive in both directions at 6 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a suspicious death first called in around 5:15.
Police have not released further information at this time, but the investigation is happening less than a mile away from where police investigated another death on Xanadu Street Monday night south of Montbello Central Park.
Radio traffic from when the call came in says a man called in saying he found his wife in a pool of blood and that she may have fallen.
Police have been interviewing witnesses and canvassing the neighborhood since. Witnesses say they saw the homeowner walked away from the scene with bags over his hands, which police say is generally used to preserve evidence.
But friends of the family are calling the incident a tragic death. Neighbors say a woman at the home is the victim and that she has been sick for a year, though she was at church Sunday.
“The husband, who is the pastor, called me that something happened to his wife and I told him I’d be right there,” said Olutoyin Oladipo, a family friend. “I asked him if he called 911 and he said he already did.”
