DENVER – Good morning! Here’s what you need to know today, Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018.

1. Colorado gun bills killed in House committees
All three gun bills being discussed by Colorado politicians were killed in House committees Wednesday evening. One would have allowed teachers with nothing more than a concealed carry permit to carry firearms in schools; the other would have allowed granting immunity to workers who shoot a person who enters a business on the mere suspicious that the person poses a threat. A third would have allowed the sale or transfer of high-capacity magazines. All three votes were killed in 6-3 party-line votes. 

2. Heightened security at all Englewood schools following shooting threat
Extra security will be in place Thursday at all Englewood School District buildings following a threat of a shooting on campus. Officials have deemed the threat not credible.

3. FCC to publish net neutrality repeal
The Federal Communications Commission is expected to publish an order getting rid of Obama-era net neutrality rules this Thursday. Congress will then have 60 days to pass a resolution to get rid of the rules.

4. Boulder Film Festival begins tonight
The Boulder International Film Festival is bringing films and filmmakers from around the world to Boulder for a four-day celebration of cinema.

5. Weak weather disturbance moves across Colorado
A weak weather disturbance will move across Colorado on Thursday with a few more inches of snow for the mountains and flurries for Denver and the eastern plains.  Highs will stay chilly in the low to mid-30s.
