Police: Woman calls, says she shot husband in local home before husband calls for help

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. -- An investigation is underway in a quiet Arapahoe County neighborhood after a 911 call reporting a possible attempted-murder suicide involving a husband and wife.

When officers responded, they found a dead wife and an injured husband. 

Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office officials say they received a phone call at about 11:35 a.m., when a woman said she killed her husband and wanted to kill herself.

Minutes later, the husband got on the line, stating that his wife had shot him in the chest.

When paramedics responded to the Euclid Drive home, they put on ballistics vests and helmts because they did not know where the wife or the gun was.  Once inside, though, they found the woman already dead.

"We do have one woman inside the home deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound," said Julie Brooks, spokeswoman for the Arapahoe County Sheriff's office. "Obviously, there is a lot of investigation left to do at this point though."

First responders said the husband had apparent gunshot wounds, but he was talking and conscious.  They took him to a nearby hospital for treatment.  His condition is unknown.
