DENVER – One more mild day, before the weather changes drastically Sunday night, because, well, it's Colorado.

Here's what to expect, when and where:

Early Sunday

We'll start out Sunday about the same way we started Saturday, with morning lows in the 30s and low 40s. It won't warm up as much, with highs around 60 and more cloud coverage. But it should still be pleasant across the area for most of the day.

Sunday evening

This is when we should see a change, with a cold front moving into Colorado on Sunday evening. Temperatures will drop dramatically, with the low Sunday night expected to be in the upper teens. The front will also bring precipitation, with wintry mix and some light snow developing across the area.

Sunday night/early Monday

The wintry mix is expected to turn to snow overnight Sunday and early Monday morning. We're still expected to see about 1-3 inches of snow across the Denver area, with higher amounts possible in the foothills.

The latest forecast discussion from the National Weather Service in Boulder on Saturday morning also called for similar amounts over most of the area. Locations to the north and northeast of Denver could also see higher amounts, as the storm will mostly be considered a "plains event," according to the weather service.

So while the foothills will see snow, don't expect anything in the mountains west of the Continental Divide, where the cold front will stall and conditions will stay dry and mild.

Monday

We could see slick conditions for Monday commuters, as light snow will continue to fall and temperatures will be in the teens and low 20s. The snow should end around midday Monday and skies should clear Monday night.

On Tuesday, temperatures will be warm back up to the 50s, "like nothing ever happened Monday," as the NWS forecast discussion put it.
