Family gives treats to homeless on Valentine's

A mother and her two teenage daughters decided to skip church on Valentine's Day and instead spend their time on the streets of Denver.

The family went from homeless person to homeless person, giving them a hug, some candy and a card that said, "you are loved."

"We decided to have church on the street Sunday," Sherry Henderson told Denver7. "We decided to minister that way."

"I gave a Valentine to a lady who then hugged me REAL tight!!," Henderson wrote on Facebook. "She proceeded to tell me that this was the 1st Valentine gift that she had received in several years!!"

Henderson said her daughters, ages 13 and 16, were excited about the project.

The family gave away 50 treats and cards.

Henderson said she came up with the idea about two weeks ago, but next year she wants to start planning earlier and give away more.
