A victim in a carjacking that took place after a Denver Police Officer was shot Tuesday is sharing her story exclusively with Denver7.
Sandra, who does not want to be identified by our cameras, was making a trip to a U.S. bank branch and didn't realize that there was an officer who was shot at a few blocks away, as police were setting up a perimeter in the area and a suspect was looking for a getaway car.
"I started screaming 'No! I don’t want to do it,' but he pushed me out of the seat and he took me out of the car," she said, speaking in Spanish as her husband translated.
Sandra said she never saw a weapon, but she was in fear for her life.
"I got really scared. I felt like I was going to die," she said. "It was horrible, really horrible."
Sandra said her face slammed into her car door when he pushed her, and her leg was briefly still stuck inside the car as he sped away.
"The people in the bank immediately rushed out to help and the police, I want to thank them," she said.
Now, she said she is safe in her home with her family.
Her car is in evidence, but her concern is with the officer fighting for his life.
"God bless him, and I’m really sorry for all this that happened," she said.
