BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. -- The mystery surrounding human remains found at Eldora Ski Resort last month continues to grow after several skeletal remains were found just outside that area late Saturday morning.
A trail runner discovered the remains which were scattered over a small area to be no wider than 20 feet on a mountainside north of Peterson Lake, approximately three-quarters of a mile outside the front gate to the Eldora Mountain Ski Resort, according commander Mike Wagner with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
It appeared the decedent had likely been camping.
It is unknown how long the remains have been on the hillside, but it appears to be at least several months, as the remains are well-weathered, Wagner said.
Officials believe these remains may be related to those of a severed human foot found in a boot on June 1. Officials, however, have not been able to identify those remains.
