DENVER — The Arapahoe Santa Claus Shop has been serving the south Denver metro area since 1959, giving families who are down on their luck the opportunity to shop for Christmas gifts.

Parents choose from dolls, stuffed animals, board games, books, bicycles and more.

Steve Busey has volunteered at the Santa Claus Shop for 21 years. He spends all year fixing dozens of bicycles.

Busey and the other volunteers make sure moms and dads have just the right gift.

“Some of them are overwhelmed,” Busey said. “They didn’t know they were going to have a Christmas this year or whatever. A lot of times they are in tears, they are so happy to have a Christmas.”
