DENVER -- When you walk into a place like Denver’s Galleria Lighting & Design it’s easy to get overwhelmed.  That’s why editor Hilary Oswald says her magazine, 5280 Home exists.

“You look through a magazine. You tag the things you love,” she told Denver7’s Theresa Marchetta. “You walk into a place like this and you say ‘Here’s what I like.  I don’t know what I’d call it, but could you show me something similar to this’”

Oswald says lighting is key in a home and it’s an update that you can do without spending a ton of money.  She says the look of a simple couch or dining room table can be elevated just by spending a few extra dollars on lighting in the room.

“In Colorado we have great light,” Oswald explained. “We feel great outside. We want to bring that feel good feeling inside, so investing in lighting is a really smart move.”

Another thing that can quickly and easily change a room is wallpaper.  Oswald says it’s making a comeback.

“Maybe you think of wallpaper as something my grandmother did and those were big florals,” she said.  “It's not that any more. It's bright and graphic and really fun.”

She says a home office or a small bathroom is a great place to try wallpaper out if you’re skeptical.  She also says you shouldn’t overlook using wallpaper on the room’s fifth wall – the ceiling.

“Why wouldn't you pay attention to it instead of just painting it white and ignoring it?” she pointed out.

When looking at wallpaper, the trending colors in Colorado right now are navy and grey, colors that read as neutrals but look great in graphic patterns.
