EVERGREEN, Colo -- A Cleveland couple who planned a Colorado wedding for May 18 never thought about planning for several inches of snow.
"How could this possibly happen? We were shocked," said Laurie Merges, a breast cancer survivor who won a free wedding through The Wedding Pink. "We live in Cleveland, though, so like Elsa says, 'the cold never bothered me anyway.'"
Instead of throwing rice at the happy couple Thursday night, guests may be tempted to throw snowballs, said Merges' partner, Jessie Jett.
"It's a big departure from what we would expect, but it's beautiful," said Jett. "And snow is good luck!"
The couple moved the rehearsal indoors Wednesday night, and while the weather was still good at that point, they took comfort in knowing they would have a good view of the winter wonderland outside from the windows.
"We’ve endured a lot over the last couple of years, so I think we can handle snow," said Merges. "We bought some tights are Target to keep the flower girl's legs warm. We're ready."
