Every weekend, Denver7 compiles a list of some family friendly events you might enjoy.  It’s the 4th of July weekend and no doubt fireworks are on your ‘must do’ list.  But there is more happening this weekend than just parades, BBQs and fireworks.  Here are a few other summer traditions to help pack your weekend with activity.

Wednesday - Monday

Greeley Stampede

What: There is still time to head to Greeley to catch the annual Greeley Stampede, which wraps up on Monday.  Rich in tradition and heritage dating back to the late 1800s, this year’s Stampede is once again packed with a full line-up of rodeos, concerts, carnivals and other events.  Come see why this PRCA Rodeo Series has grown to reach international acclaim, and stay for concert headliners that include Thomas Rhett, Vince Neil, Chris Janson and Craig Morgan.  

Where: Island Grove Regional Park, 600 N. 14th Avenue, Greeley, Colo.

When:  Daily through July 4th; Various times.

Cherry Creek Arts Festival

What: All locals know the 4th of July weekend is synonymous with the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. As Colorado's signature cultural event, you can enjoy three full days of fine art, food and fun.  So lather on the sunscreen and head to Cherry Creek North to stroll amongst more than 250 juried visual artists, plus enjoy live music, delicious cuisine and “Artivity Avenue,” a full street block devoted to interactive fun just for families.

When:  Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Monday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Boulder Art & JazzFest 2016

What: Stroll through Boulder’s Historic Central Park and shop the wide array of original works on display from over 100 local artists. Eat delicious food, drink in the beer garden, and just relax to the sound of good music featuring bands like Juba Juba, Max Wagner, Purple Squirrel and more.

Where:  Boulder’s Central Park, Canyon and 13th Street, Boulder, Colo.

When: Saturday: 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Monday: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Colorado Renaissance Festival Children’s Weekend

What: Not up for the traditional July 4th pageantry?  Take a day trip to the Renaissance Festival for music, magic and merriment.  Journey back to medieval times, as you wonder through the village streets being entertained by costumed characters from jugglers to maidens, full-armor jousting, turkey legs, music and more.  And in honor of the young Princes, Princesses and Pirates, this weekend will be filled with extra magic and merriment fit just for the little ones.  

Where: 650 W. Perry Park Ave., Larkspur, Colo.

When: Saturday-Sunday: 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. 

Admission: $22 – Adults; Kids 12 years and under are free with a paying adult, this weekend only.

Independence Eve Celebration

What: Downtown Denver’s annual celebration featuring a free patriotic concert with local headliner Chris Daniels and the Kings, a state-of-the-art light show illuminated on the Denver City and County Building, followed by a spectacular fireworks show.  Pack a picnic and bring a blanket to enjoy this holiday tradition.       

Where: Civic Center Park, Broadway and Colfax, Denver, Colo.

When: Sunday: 8 p.m.

July 4th Evergreen Music Festival

What: It’ll be a full day of music with a line-up that includes the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra, Queen City Jazz Band, The 3eatles and local favorite The Hazel Miller Band.  Plus tons of entertainment and activities for the kids including a juggler and balloon show, face painting, bounce house and more.  And if you’re not in the pie or hotdog eating contest, food will be available for purchase. 

Where: Buchanan Park, 1520 Evergreen Parkway, Evergreen, Colo.

When: Monday: 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m.

Admission: $10 – Adults; $5 – Teens 13-18 years; Veterans, Active Military and Kids 12 years and under are free.

Denver Outlaws Game and Fireworks

What: Our Denver Outlaws take on the Florida Launch this 4th of July.  After watching the fast-paced excitement that is professional lacrosse, stick around to watch the pyrotechnics explode as Denver’s best post-game fireworks display fills the bowl at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Where: Sports Authority Field at Mile High, 1701 Bryant Street, Denver, Colo.

When: Monday: 6:30 p.m.
