The sixth annual Stanley Harvesting Hope will return to Denver this Thanksgiving – Thursday, Nov. 26 – to raise awareness for Prader-Willi Syndrome, a complex genetic disorder that causes low-muscle tone, slowed metabolism and most notably, chronic feelings of insatiable hunger. The event was created by two Denver moms, both with young children battling PWS, as a Thanksgiving tradition they could celebrate with their community to take the focus off food.

Denver7 is a proud supporter of Harvesting Hope, which offers a professionally timed, USATF Certified 5K; a Kids Fun Run; and new this year, a virtual 5k option. Participants will receive a shirt of their choice, a commemorative coaster, and a neck gaiter. In-person racers will also receive certified timed results, free race photos, and finisher medals and prizes. The event will also include live entertainment and pre-packaged refreshments as well as an appearance by Denver7 Anchor/Reporter Jason Gruenauer. The in-person event is following all safety procedures as outlined by the CDPHE and CDC.

Rolling waves for the live event begin at 8 a.m. at Stapleton Central Park, with options for racers to sign up in 15-minute intervals. The Kids Fun Run begins at 11:45 a.m.

Registration is $40 per person for anyone participating in the live 5K event, and $30 per person for the virtual option. Kids can run for $5 per person for the in-person event and for free virtually. Dogs and strollers are welcome. All proceeds from the event go directly to the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research to support this mission of finding a cure.

Stanley Harvesting Hope was founded in 2015 by Rachael Fischer and Julie Foge to raise awareness for Prader-Willi Syndrome. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $250,000 for the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research.
