Denver7 is a proud to support Jodi’s Race for Awareness on Saturday, June 8 from 7-9 a.m. in City Park. Thousands of runners and walkers, including ovarian cancer survivors and their family and friends, will participate in celebration of loved ones while helping to raise awareness of the symptoms of ovarian cancer. Online registration is available at www.jodisrace.org.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Jodi’s Race for Awareness, which is the second largest ovarian cancer race in the country. Inspired by Jodi Brammeier, who believed she would have caught her cancer earlier had she been more aware of the symptoms - bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, urinary urgency or frequency, and difficulty eating or feeling full quickly - the race aims to raise awareness so other women find their cancer earlier and stand a chance to win against this deadly disease. Jodi lost her battle Aug. 3, 2010, less than two months after the inaugural race; however, her spirit lives on in Jodi’s Race for Awareness.

All money raised during this popular community event remains in Colorado and funds numerous COCA programs including COCACares Financial Assistance, Nicki's Circle Support Groups, the Ovarian Cancer Resource Guide, Comfort Kits for the newly diagnosed, an annual Raise Awareness campaign, and Survivors Teaching Students: Saving Women’s Lives®, a national program of the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA).

Adult registration for the 5K or 1-mile is $40. Registration for children 12 and under and seniors is $35 and $30 for ovarian cancer survivors. Groups of four or more receive a 10% discount. All registrants receive a race t-shirt. An Ova Sleep option is available, as is a Furry Friends registration ($10) which includes a doggy treat. Onsite registration will be available on Race day at a higher price.
