This year, the Denver Scholarship Foundation’s Annual Gala – its largest fundraising event of the year – will embrace a virtual format while expanding into DSF Spirit Week for the first time in the organization’s 14-year history.
Beginning on Monday, Oct. 5, DSF Spirit Week will offer opportunities to participate in short activities and experiences to learn more about DSF’s three-part program, featuring Denver Public Schools high school student speakers, DSF Scholar speakers and Alumni.
Virtual events throughout the week include a DSF 101 event to highlight DSF’s college access programming, which takes place in DSF Future Centers located inside 14 DPS high schools; a DSF 201 event to highlight DSF’s college success programming in partnership with 31 postsecondary institutions in Colorado; and a networking lunch hour to connect DSF Scholars and Alumni with supporters, sponsors, and community members.
The Spirit Week celebration will culminate on Thursday, Oct. 8 with DSF Virtual Gala 2020: Celebrating with Spirit, emceed by Denver7 anchor Anne Trujillo.
“In an uncertain world, we know that a college degree or certificate paves the way to a brighter future for our students and their families,” said Lorii Rabinowitz, chief executive officer of DSF. “Our Virtual Gala 2020 will bring together our community in a new way to support thousands of Denver students in keeping their momentum to and through college completion.”
The DSF Annual Gala has raised millions of dollars to make college possible for thousands of students in Denver. Since its founding in 2006, DSF has awarded $43.4 million in scholarships, changing the life trajectory for 7,020 Denver Public Schools graduates.
Proceeds from DSF Virtual Gala 2020 will make it possible for thousands of DPS graduates to complete a college certificate or degree.
