The Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce will host its third-annual Girls Rising: Building a Pipeline of Women Leaders event on Wednesday, Aug. 5 from noon to 1:00 p.m. This event, which will be emceed by Denver7’s Lisa Hidalgo, recognizes and honors women who are seeking careers in traditionally male-dominated fields.

The CWCC Girls Rising Scholarship will be awarded to four outstanding scholars in the Denver Scholarship Foundation program and one scholar in Construction Management at Colorado State University in order to help them continue to pursue degrees in industries deemed “non-traditional,” or those that have 25 percent or less female representation.

“In order to advance women in business into the highest levels of leadership, we must build a pipeline of young women who understand that they can reach their goals – in any industry,” said Kristen Blessman, CEO of the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce. “As a business community, we must show young women what leadership looks like in these fields, because if young women can see themselves there – they can find their way there.”

The event will digitally convene more than 300 business professionals to explore the data and anecdotal observations on women in underrepresented industries and celebrate the scholars. In addition to the scholarship presentation, keynote speaker, Hollie Velasquez Horvath, senior director, state affairs and community relations, will address the audience.

The event will be presented through a Zoom webinar. It is open to all with a suggested donation of $20 and attendance is limited.
