Book Trust will be holding its annual fundraiser Vino & Libri: Bridges to Books on Thurs., April 25, from 6-9 p.m. at Infinity Park Event Center.
Philanthropist and activist Ruby Nell Bridges Hall will be the featured author and keynote speaker of the evening. Ruby was the first African-American child to desegregate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana during New Orleans school desegregation in 1960 and is the central figure in Norman Rockwell’s painting, “The Problem We All Live With.” She has dedicated her life to promoting tolerance and equity through education, including her authorship of “Through My Eyes.”
The event is a celebration of reading and fundraising to support book ownership for children who need it most. Book Trust serves over 20,000 students in 60 schools within Colorado and over 57,000 students in 21 states across the country. Money raised will allow students to select and own books, helping to build home libraries, increasing literacy skills, and fostering a lifelong love of reading and learning.
