If you are a fan of romantic comedies, you may have enjoyed the 2010 film “Letters to Juliet.” In the movie, a young woman played by Amanda Seyfried visits a wall in Verona, Italy where heartbroken visitors leave notes to Juliet Capulet.

That location, a place of pilgrimage for fans of Shakespeare’s tragic fictional heroine, actually exists outside of a medieval dwelling known as Juliet’s House in Verona, Italy.

And if your love story is one for the ages, you and your beloved could find yourselves spending the most romantic of holidays there. Airbnb is giving away a one-night stay for two at Casa di Giulietta, also known as Juliet’s House, on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2020.

The Romance of Juliet’s House

While “Romeo and Juliet” was not based on a true story and the house has no connection to the Bard of Avon’s famous play, throngs of people from around the world come to visit the site.

They gaze at the balcony, which looks like it came right out of a fairy tale, or the bronze statue of Juliet at the Gothic-style house once owned by a family named Cappelletti, which is not a far stretch from Capulet. Or they engage in the tradition of sending Juliet a letter.

The 14th-century home, which currently houses a small museum, features art and ceramics designed to reflect Shakespeare’s setting. Much of the furniture is from the 16th and 17th centuries.

They will be treated to a candlelight dinner by Giancarlo Perbellini, a chef with two Michelin stars, in the grand dining room. The lucky couple also gets a private tour of Verona with a professional photographer. Economy flights, meals, ground travel and optional activities will be provided as well. Full rules are here.

Does this sound like how you want to spend your Valentine’s Day? If so, you better get writing!
