DENVER – April is typically a good time to be in Denver – the flowers are beginning to bloom; the days are longer and winter usually packs one last punch before it says good-bye for a few months.
This April, however, things are a bit different. And that’s not such a good thing for Denver.
The monthly normal snowfall for the month of April is about 8.9 inches, according to the National Weather Service. This month we have only seen a tenth of an inch.
That’s a big drop considering April is usually the second snowiest month of the winter season for our city, and there is no sign of relief in sight.
Denver is not expecting any sort of precipitation until Thursday, April 20, and even then, the weather forecast shows only a 20 percent chance of rain through the following week following that date.
The precipitation, if it even comes to pass, will not be enough to get us anywhere near where we should be for this time of year, meaning Denver could have the lowest amount of snow ever recorded at the end of this winter season.
