See the ISS fly over Denver early Sunday morning

Posted
The International Space Station (ISS) will fly over the state early Sunday morning. It's a spectacular sight to see that bright object quickly moving across the sky.

The ISS is orbiting at 249 miles from the Earth's surface at a speed of more than 17,000 miles per hour. Its orbit will occasionally be passing right overhead, and that's on tap for Sunday morning.

The giant solar "wings" of the ISS reflect the sunlight and that appears as a bright object flying over your head. In fact, it is one of the brightest objects in the sky.

For Denver look north-northwest at 5:10 am and you'll see a bright dot, nearly white, light traveling quickly toward the east-southeast. It will disappear on the southeastern horizon only 4 minutes later.

The forecast does call for some cloud cover and fog on the eastern plains into the Front Range.

Don't forget to catch the lunar eclipse Sunday evening.
