DENVER – Most of Colorado has a chance to see some rain Wednesday, though the heaviest precipitation and highest chance of severe storms will be in northeastern Colorado.
Wednesday will begin sunny and pleasant statewide with readings quickly warming into the 70s by late morning and reaching the low 80s in the afternoon for Denver and most lower elevations. Highs in the mountains will range from the mid-60s to the middle 70s.
Starting in the early afternoon, some showers will start to pop up in the mountains and foothills; some thunderstorms could develop as well.

In the Denver metro area, isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are possible as well.
But the Eastern Plains has the highest chance for rain and storms—some of which have the possibility to turn severe. Some isolated heavy rain in some areas along the eastern part of the state could lead to minor flooding in some areas, though the overall flood threat remains low.
The National Weather Service says the area of the state with a marginal severe outlook covers the Burlington, Akron, Sterling and Julesburg areas.
Thursday is expected to bring much of the same to Colorado: mostly dry with some chances of rain and storms across the state.
But Friday is supposed to bring increasing clouds and likely thunderstorms—some which have the potential to be severe, especially along the Eastern Plains.
