Despite tornado sirens going off in the Denver metro area, there are no tornado watches or warnings across the state of Colorado, an official with the National Weather Service says.

Strong storms are indeed developing around the metro area and the National Weather Service (NWS) is monitoring the region, according to First Alert Weather Meteorologist Stacey Donaldson.
So why did tornado sirens go off? As it turns out, individual cities can set off their own tornado sirens at their discretion, a NWS spokesperson said.

The sirens heard over Aurora were activated due to rotating clouds, a spokesperson for the Aurora Police Department said on Facebook.

The storm over Aurora has large hail, heavy rain, and gusty winds, but there is no tornado warning for the area nor a severe thunderstorm warning for that matter.
This storm continues to pack quite a punch however.
