PARKER, Colo. -- Two weather channel contractors, Kelley Williamson and Randy Yarnall, as well as an independent storm chaser, Corbin Jaeger, all died in the crash that Texas Department of Public safety officials say happened when Williamson drove through a stop sign hitting Jaeger.
Denver7 spoke to Jaeger's mother, Karen Di Piazza, over the phone Wednesday. She lives in Arizona where her 25-year-old son lived. Di Piazza told Denver7 her son’s tragic death could have been prevented.
“He was a beautiful young man. He was compassionate for all people, had a great sense of humor,” said Di Piazza, whose son used to live in the Town of Parker. She said he had an undeniable love for Mother Nature.
“He had such a deep passion for weather since he was a young child. He decided that he wanted to get more into chasing and learning more about weather because his goal was to save lives." said Di Piazza.
Karen plans to keep her son's wish alive as his body returns back to Colorado.
“He wanted his ashes sprinkled in Colorado because he always considered it home,” said Di Piazza.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with funeral expenses.
