DENVER — First Alert Action Day: High winds will be affecting Denver Friday afternoon and evening. Expect gusts as high as 60 mph for the metro — 70 mph for the plains!

The mountains will pick up more snow starting Thursday night and will continue through Friday. A winter storm warning has been issued for the southwestern mountains. More than a foot of snow is possible between this afternoon and Friday night.

This storm will be a dry one for the Denver metro area, but we may see a few light rain/snow showers across the northeastern plains tomorrow. Winds will be the bigger issue. We will see gusts near 70 mph on Friday across northeastern Colorado. Highs will stay in the low to mid 50s tomorrow afternoon. A High Wind Warning begins Friday afternoon for the metro and Front Range for strong wind gusts. The warning expires Saturday morning.

Very mild if you're heading downtown for the National Western Stock Show. It will be calmer, mostly sunny and mild on Saturday and Sunday.
