DENVER — A cold front brought drizzle and chilly weather to Denver and the I-25 Corridor, but the mountains and foothills were not as lucky - dry and windy conditions continue and fires are still growing.
Fire danger continues thanks to the extremely dry conditions. The Lefthand Canyon Fire, the Cameron Peak Fire, the Calwood Fire and East Troublesome Fire continue to bring areas of widespread smoke to areas downwind of the flames. Gusty west-northwest winds will be a concern for firefighting efforts once again today.
Air Quality Alerts are in place for the majority of the Front Range into Friday.
Winds pick up and clouds increase tonight across the Denver metro area, with a rain-snow mix possible overnight and a few flurries early Friday. Snow is not expected to accumulate, but it will be a lot colder, with lows in the teens and 20s.
On Friday, clouds gradually decrease and highs stay chilly, in the 40s. It will be dry and milder on Saturday, with sunshine and highs in the 60s.
A stronger and colder storm will move into Colorado by early Sunday with snow! At the present time, it appears this storm could bring 6 to 12 inches of snow to the fire areas Sunday and Monday.
Denver and the I-25 corridor can expect 3 to 6 inches snow on Sunday along with much colder temperatures. Highs on Sunday will be around 25 degrees early in the day and fall into the teens by the 4th quarter of the Broncos game!
Temperatures will drop to the low teens by Monday and Tuesday mornings! Be prepared.
