DENVER — A cool and gloomy start to the month of May, but better days are on the way!

Cool and unsettled weather will continue tonight, with lingering rain showers on the plains and scattered snow showers in the mountains. Skies will begin to clear from west to east overnight, although areas of fog will develop across eastern Colorado.

The weather will improve Thursday, although there still will be some scattered afternoon showers. Highs will be in the upper 50s to low 60s in the Denver area. Scattered snow showers will develop in the mountains with highs in the 40s to low 50s.

Dry and sunny weather will finally return on Friday with highs in the upper 60s on the plains and 50s in the mountains.

Temperatures will reach the 70s this weekend with dry weather expected. In the mountains, expect sunshine and upper 50s to middle 60s.

Monday will be windy and warmer with highs in the middle 70s.

Another round of thunderstorms will arrive Tuesday afternoon and again on Wednesday. Temperatures will drop back into the low 60s by next Wednesday.
