DENVER — Milder weather returned for Sunday, with highs climbing to the low 50s for the afternoon.

Downsloping winds have been affecting our northern Front Range mountains and foothills. A High Wind Warning is in effect until 5 p.m. Sunday, with wind gusts up to 75 mph possible over wind prone areas east of the Continental Divide.

Breezy conditions can be expected in Denver through this evening. Tonight, skies will be partly cloudy and lows will dip to the 20s and low 30s.

Monday (our first day of winter) will stay mild, with highs in the 50s. Temperatures will top out in the 50s to low 60s on Tuesday, ahead of our next front, set to bring colder weather and some light snow Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day should be dry and cool, with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s.
