DENVER — Monday was dry and cool across Colorado under a mostly clear sky. Tonight will be a chilly one again as temperatures fall to around 20 degrees in Denver. In the high mountain valleys, readings will tumble well below zero in places like Fraser, Gunnison and Fairplay.

Lots of sunshine is in store for Tuesday temperatures will climb into the upper 40s and low 50s in the Denver area, with upper 20s to mid-30s at the ski areas. In those high valleys, it will stay colder with teens to low 20s expected for highs.

It will get warmer by Wednesday with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s for Denver and the eastern plains. In the mountains, clouds will increase but temperatures will be in the 30s to low 40s.

A cold front will bring some light snow to the mountains starting Wednesday night. Accumulations will be light - just a couple inches for the mountains along and north of I-70 with just flurries farther south. Denver and the northeast plains might get a brief rain shower or flurry Wednesday night.

It will be windy and a little colder on Thursday as the front moves east of Colorado. Skies will be clearing and highs will be in the 20s to low 30s in the mountains and 40s over the plains.

Friday will be dry and cool statewide, followed by another chance for some snow for the mountains and plains on Saturday.
