DENVER — Temperatures reached 60 degrees in Denver Wednesday afternoon, just ahead of a windy cold front.

The winds will pick up across the northern Front Range mountains and foothills this evening as the cold front pushes through Colorado.

A HIGH WIND WARNING is in effect for the western suburbs of Denver, the Front Range Foothills and the Northeast Plains. Winds of 30-50 mph and gusts to 65 mph will be possible through Thursday afternoon.

The cold front will bring some light snow to the mountains — just a couple inches for the mountains along and north of I-70 with just flurries farther south. Denver and the northeast plains might get a brief rain shower or flurry early tonight.

It will be windy and a little colder on Thursday as the front races east of Colorado. Skies will be clearing and highs will be in the 20s to low 30s in the mountains and 40s over the plains.

The strong winds will make it feel much colder on exposed skin - wind chill readings will be zero to 20 below in the mountains and in the teens over northeast Colorado.

Friday will be dry and cool statewide, followed by another chance for light snow for the mountains and plains on Saturday.

Sunday will be cool, but dry under mostly sunny skies.

More light snow will be possible in Colorado starting late Monday and continued into Tuesday.
