In early to mid July, there is almost always a slight chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Also, the warm temperatures in the high country have greatly accelerated the snow melt, rivers and streams are running high, fast and cold!

There will be another chance for a few afternoon storms both today and tomorrow, but the risk of severe weather is low. Hit the high country trails early because we will see lightning there by lunch. Highs in the low to mid-90s on the plains, with 70s and 80s in the mountains.

Hot and drier weather is expected by mid-week. Temperatures will be the upper 90s to low 100s starting Wednesday and it will stay really hot through the coming weekend. Our mountains will see more sunshine by midweek and highs in the 70s to 80s.
