DENVER — Denver almost reached one more 90 degree high on Sunday, peaking at 88 degrees. A cooler weather pattern is now taking over for a few days as a cold front slides across Colorado.

A few showers developed across the state as the cold front moved through early tonight.  A little snow  mixed in with the showers above 11,000 feet.  The showers will end tonight as the front pushes into Kansas.

Low temperatures will dip to the upper 20s to mid-30s in the mountains early Tuesday.  In Denver and across the eastern plains, lows will be in the low to mid-40s Tuesday morning. Some clouds may linger into the early morning, followed by sunny skies with gusty north winds.  Tuesday looks to be the coolest day of the week, with highs in the middle 60s for Denver and 50s to low 60s in the mountains.

Temperatures will slowly warm through the middle of the week with highs in the middle 70s on Wednesday and around 80 degrees on Thursday.  Friday will be slightly cooler with an increase in clouds.  Highs in Denver and along the I-25 Corridor will be in the low to mid-70s.

Next weekend should be very nice as September draws to a close. Expect sunny to partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees for Denver.  The mountains will be dry, with highs in the 60s.

The aspens remain pretty in the mountains!  The Central and Southern mountain areas will be reaching peak color for the next 5 to 7 days.  Northern areas are past peak, but still feature some pretty pockets of color.
