DENVER —

The thick smoke and haze of recent days did improve briefly in Denver and across eastern Colorado this morning, but the smoke and haze quickly filled in again during the afternoon.  Strong westerly winds aloft will continue to push some smoke into the state for the next few days.

Skies will remain fairly free of clouds, with only a few brief thunderstorms in the mountains and foothills. Lows tonight will be in the 40s in the mountains and 50s to low 60s on the plains.

Friday through Sunday, warm and mainly dry weather is expected with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s for lower elevations and 70s to low 80s in the mountains. Just a few thunderstorms will be possible over the mountains and will produce lightning and wind as opposed to heavy rainfall.

The warm weather will continue into early next week with mainly dry conditions statewide. Some thunderstorms may pop up again by next Tuesday or Wednesday.
