Highs in the 80s today, 70s for Monday

DENVER — Afternoon highs were in the low 80s for the Denver metro on Sunday. We tied a previous record high for DIA at 83 degrees..last set in 1948.  Expect overnight lows to be in the upper 40s and low 50s tonight. 

Fire danger is elevated over Elbert and Lincoln counties for Monday once again. Very warm temperatures, dry and gusty conditions are expected through the day. Red Flag Warnings are in effect  for areas from  our southern foothills west of Denver, Colorado Springs southward and east toward Akron, Limon, and Burlington.

We will stay warm through Monday, followed by increasing clouds and a few afternoon showers Tuesday. Highs will be in the low 70s Monday and mid-60s Tuesday.

Wednesday will be cooler with rain on the plains and snow in the mountains, expect highs in the 50s.  The showers will taper off on Thursday with some clearing late in the day.  Warmer and drier weather will return for Friday and the following weekend.
