DENVER — A cold spring storm system dropped heavy, wet snow in the mountains, foothills and Denver metro area early Tuesday and made it feel more like mid-March than late May!

The average date for the last measurable snow in Denver is April 27 and the latest date on record was June 2 in 1951, although flurries fell on June 12 in 1947. This May 20, 2019 storm is the latest measurable snowfall in Denver in the past 10 years.

A Freeze Warning is in effect until 8 a.m. Wednesday for the Denver metro-area and the majority of eastern Colorado. Temperatures will fall to the upper 20s and low 30s.

Cool, wet weather will linger into Wednesday with more mountain snow showers and rain showers for the plains. Highs will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s in the mountains and upper 40s to low 50s on the plains.

Afternoon showers are likely again on Thursday. Highs will stay around 20 degrees below normal, in the low to mid-50s.

Warmer and drier weather will finally arrive in Colorado Friday, with highs returning to around 70 degrees. Saturday and Sunday will be nice, with highs in the low to mid-70s.

Memorial Day on Monday looks dry to start, with nice weather for the Bolder Boulder! Clouds will increase in the afternoon, with a chance for thunderstorms after 3 PM. Highs will be in the low to mid-70s.

Cooler and wetter weather moves back in on Tuesday, with showers and temperatures in the low to mid-60s.
