DENVER — Snow is falling heavily in the mountains and roads are snow covered and slippery. Rain is changing over to snow in the Denver area and will accumulate to a few inches on grassy surfaces early Thursday.

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for the mountains above 10,000 feet until 6 PM Thursday. The snow will accumulate to 8 to 16 in the mountains, Denver should see 1 to 3 inch accumulations on grassy areas, with 3 to 6 inches over the southern and western suburbs above 6,000 feet.

Roads will be snow-covered and slippery in the mountains and slushy in the Denver area for the Thursday morning drive.
The weather will stay cool and unsettled Thursday with more showers and highs in the low 40s.

Chilly and unsettled weather will stick around through Friday with temperatures well below normal for early May. A Freeze Warning is in effect for Denver and the eastern plains early Friday as lows drop to the upper 20s to low 30s.

Snow showers will linger in the mountains on Friday, while scattered rain and snow showers can be expected in the Denver area. Highs will reach the low to middle 50s in the metro area, with 40s in the mountains.

Finally on Saturday, skies are expected to clear out, with temperatures returning to around 60 degrees.

Sunday and Monday will be dry and warmer with highs in the 70s! The next chance for thunderstorms will arrive Tuesday afternoon.
