A cold front will usher in some cooler weather on Saturday, with a chance of showers mainly for the mountains.

Expect mostly sunny skies and breezy conditions in Denver and across the plains. Highs today will be pleasant, in the low 70s.

The southeastern corner of Colorado will see very strong winds this evening and highs in the mid to upper 80s. Fire danger is elevated, with a Red Flag Warning in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday.

The aspen trees are fading over the central and northern mountains, but offer some lingering pockets of color. Better viewing continues over the southern mountain areas. The aspen viewing will continue to decline from north to south over the next week.

Sunday, another round of scattered showers will be likely in the mountains. The Denver area and plains should stay dry, but cool. Lows early Sunday will fall to the upper 30s and low 40s across the Front Range, with daytime highs in the 60s.

There will be a brief break in the weather on Monday, with drier conditions and highs near 70 degrees for Denver.

A second, colder and wetter system will move into the central Rockies Tuesday and Wednesday with some rain for lower elevations and snow for the mountains.

Right now, it appears there could be a mix of rain and snow and near freezing temperatures in Denver next Wednesday morning.
