DENVER — The cold and snowy of last week has been replaced by a dry and milder pattern for most of this week. The JET STREAM winds are blowing from west to east across the nation and will not be as strong as a week ago. This will mean less energy for strong storms to develop and a milder flow of air from the Pacific instead of Canada.
Some limited moisture will flow into the mountains tonight and bring 1 to 3 inches of snow to the central and northern mountains by early Tuesday. There may be some scattered snow covered areas on the roads, but this will not be a big deal.
Denver and the eastern plains will see some high clouds, but no moisture tonight and Tuesday. Temperatures will be chilly overnight with lows in the 20s. Highs on Tuesday will be in the upper 40s to middle 50s, with the warmest readings on the west and south sides of the metro area.
Wednesday should be mild and dry over most of Colorado, but clouds will increase from the west as a rather weak storm system begins to move into the state late in the day.
There will be a chance of light snow in Denver Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Amounts will be an inch or so, but the early morning timing may cause a few issues on the roads. The mountains will receive 4 to 8 inches of snow Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Mild and dry weather will return for Friday and Saturday, followed by another chance for light snow on Sunday.
