Powerful and damaging winds roared across Colorado with gusts over 80 mph reported at Rocky Flats and Broomfield around 3 p.m.
A cold front racing through Colorado caused the strong winds. The front is now well east of the state and lighter winds will follow during the overnight hours and early Wednesday.
The weather will be a much nicer again on Wednesday with 60s, sunshine and much less windy conditions. Winds will not be as strong on Wednesday, but still breezy at 15-25 mph in the afternoon.
Thursday will be warm, windy and dry with highs near 70 degrees in Denver. Clouds will increase in the afternoon ahead of the next storm system.
This next storm is looking to be big, wet and chilly for Friday and Saturday. Rain will change to wet, slushy snow in the Denver area Friday evening and continue through Saturday morning. The track of the storm should bring some great moisture to the region - an inch of liquid or more!
The storm will exit the region late Saturday with dry and warmer weather returning Sunday and Monday.
